CAA Signing Agreement With SERB (Previously Known As Airgo)

Muscat, Oman- Under the patronage of His Excellency Engineer Saeed bin Hamoud Al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, Civil Aviation Authority -Oman signed an agreement, with SERB, an Omani leading company specializing in unmanned aircraft registration and management software systems (UTM). This agreement will enable the Civil Aviation Authority and the company to implement and supervise trials for electronic registration and unmanned aircraft traffic management in the Sultanate digitally. The agreement was signed by His Excellency Engineer Naif bin Ali Al Abri, the President of the Civil Aviation Authority, and Ms. Anwar bint Mohammed Al Hinaai, the CEO of SERB. It is expected that this step will contribute to enhancing the business environment in the Sultanate, as government and private entities utilize unmanned aircraft. This technology will allow members of the community to benefit from various applications, meet safety and security requirements, and boost economic and social activities in the Sultanate by employing an innovative central system to manage unmanned aircraft activities and facilitate obtaining aviation licenses. Additionally, it aims to expand industrial and commercial uses. In this regard, His Excellency Engineer Naif bin Ali Al Abri, President of the Civil Aviation Authority, stated, “The Civil Aviation Authority is following a clear path in keeping pace with rapid changes in the advanced technological field of civil aviation. As the regulatory authority for the aviation sector in the Sultanate, we support solutions and innovations to enable the use of modern technology on Omani soil while adhering to the security and safety conditions set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to preserve the safety of Omani airspace.” He added, “Today, civil aviation stands on the threshold of a significant era due to the multiple uses of unmanned aircraft. With the development of new technological advancements, individuals and institutions from various sectors are showing interest in this field. This requires us and our partners to design an efficient system to regulate the registration and permit processes more smoothly.” In response to this, Anwar bint Mohammed Al Hinaai, CEO of AirGo, said, “We appreciate the Civil Aviation Authority’s interest in providing a platform for entrepreneurs to test their systems and projects in a complete realistic environment with clear legislation and technical guidelines compatible with international best practices. Additionally, we have developed a specialized working system that will enable us to launch trials for an electronic registration and control system that connects government entities with users of unmanned aircraft for individuals and companies. It also provides digital aerial traffic information for specialists.
